Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we do with your personal data when you visit babybisou.com, buy from us, or contact us. We handle personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Baby Bisou is a trading name of River Flows B.V., Afmijnstraat 1, 1187 ZZ Amstelveen, Netherlands. Chamber of Commerce (KVK) number 42056039. VAT number NL869506250B01.

What we collect and why

  • Order information. Your name, delivery and billing address, email address and phone number. We need this to perform our contract with you. Legal basis: contract.
  • Payment information. Handled by Shopify Payments and the payment providers shown at checkout. We never see or store your full card details. Legal basis: contract.
  • Account information. If you create an account, your login details and saved preferences. Legal basis: contract.
  • Messages you send us. Contact form submissions, emails and anything you tell us about an order. Legal basis: contract, and our legitimate interest in answering you properly.
  • Marketing preferences. Your email address if you subscribe. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Technical and usage data. IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and referring URL. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working, and consent where cookies are not strictly necessary.

Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies keep your basket and checkout working, and we set those without asking because the site cannot function without them. Analytics and marketing cookies are only set if you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time through the banner or your browser settings. Turning off non-essential cookies does not stop you from ordering.

Who we share it with

  • Shopify, which hosts this shop and processes orders and payments on our behalf.
  • Carriers and our logistics partner, who receive your name, address and phone number so your parcel arrives.
  • Order tracking, so you can follow your parcel.
  • Email tools, if you have subscribed to our newsletter.
  • Professional advisers and authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.

Where your data goes

We are based in the Netherlands and our logistics partner is outside the UK and the EEA, so your delivery details are transferred internationally. Where we transfer personal data out of the UK we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or we transfer only to countries covered by UK adequacy regulations.

How long we keep it

Order and transaction records are kept for seven years because tax law requires it. Account data is kept while your account is open and for a short period after you close it. Marketing consent is kept until you unsubscribe. Support messages are deleted once the matter is closed, unless we need them for a dispute.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • have inaccurate data corrected
  • have your data deleted, where we have no continuing reason to keep it
  • ask us to restrict how we use it
  • receive your data in a portable format, or have it sent to someone else
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it
  • opt out of marketing, using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email

Email hello@babybisou.com to use any of these. We respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

We sell products for children, but we sell them to adults. This site is not intended for use by children and we do not knowingly collect data about anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

Security

Our checkout is encrypted and payment details are handled by our payment providers, not by us. No system is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information to us by email.

Changes

We may update this policy. The version on this page is the one that applies, and we will update the date below when it changes.
