Our Story

Baby Bisou exists because of a small, stubborn problem: almost every shoe made for a baby is a shrunken version of a shoe made for an adult. Stiff sole, narrow toe, arch support a foot that age has no use for.

Feet do not start out finished. A newborn foot is mostly cartilage, and it spends the first years turning into bone. What it needs in that time is room, grip and the freedom to feel the ground. Not scaffolding.

So that is what we choose for. Every pair in the shop is picked against the same four questions:

  • Does the sole bend where the foot bends? At the ball, not halfway down the arch.
  • Is there room across the toes? Wide enough for toes to splay, because that is how balance is learned.
  • Does it stay on? An elastic cuff or two adjustment points, not one strap that gets kicked off in a car seat.
  • Would we put it on our own? If the answer is no, it does not go in the shop.

Sizing honestly

We would rather sell you one pair that fits than two pairs that do not. That is why our size guide tells you to measure the foot instead of trusting the age on the box, and why we say out loud that buying two sizes up does not make shoes last longer, it makes them fall off.

Being straight about delivery

Our shoes come from a logistics centre that is not around the corner, and a UK order takes roughly 9 to 15 working days door to door. We could bury that at the bottom of a page. We put it at the top of the shipping page instead, because a parent who knows what to expect is not a parent chasing a parcel.

Who we are

Baby Bisou is a trading name of River Flows B.V. We are a small team, we read every email ourselves, and if something goes wrong we would rather fix it than win the argument.
