OUR STORY:
The Baby Bisou carrier is a modern take on a carrier called a Mei Tai which has been used in Asia for centuries. The design has endured hundreds of years because of its functionality and comfort. Before the industrial period, women were able to carry their children while they worked and required a carrier that could be worn front or back and would distribute weight onto the hips. The modern mother has again become very mobile and active and has these same requirements of a carrier with the addition of a little style! Baby Bisou donates 10% of all profits to charities for children.
HALF THE SKY:
Currently our donations go to Half the Sky, started in the United States in 1998 to support orphaned children living in institutions in China. It was named after the Chinese adage that women hold up half the skyť. Teachers and staff are provided to create a nurturing and stimulating environment until the children are adopted by families in various countries including the United States. Half the Sky also helps to provide permanent, loving, two-parent homes for children whose physical and developmental challenges have precluded them from being adopted. They are also a part of the China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) to help create new guidelines that will raise the quality of care on a national level.
